Celebrate the Year of the Goat!

Asia Society rings in the Year of the Goat with performances and traditional craft activities inspired by Lunar New Year traditions across Asia. Activities will include a Lion Dance and kung fu demonstration, musical performances, and more.

Schedule of Events:

1:15-1:40 PM - 2 Short Films: Hunchback’s Tale and What’s Yours is Mine
Two select short films from the 1001 Nights Series featuring episodes taking place in China. Hunchback’s Tale is told through a series of comical mishaps, where different people think they committed the same crime. What’s Yours Is Mine is the story of a fisherman who refuses to sell a pearl given to him by a mermaid.

2:00-2:30 PM - Lion Dance and Kung-Fu Demo
New York Bo Law Kung-Fu martial arts school presents a traditional Lion Dance followed by an interactive Kung Fu demonstration.

3:00-3:40 – Korean Drumming performance and lesson
NY Korean Traditional Marching Band will perform
Salmulnori, which means “playing four things”: The changgo or hour-glass shaped drum; the buk or barrel drum; the jing or large gong; and the kkwaenggwari, or small gong.

Expert drummers will teach you how to drum using barrel drums!

Ongoing Arts and Crafts activities on the 8th floor:
