On May 14, dozens of heads of state and thousands of business leaders gathered in Beijing with China’s President Xi Jinping for a major summit to discuss next steps for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) — China’s mammoth, closely-watched global infrastructure endeavor set to span continents. President Xi has called BRI the “project of the century,” and indeed, it may be the most ambitious infrastructure plan the world has ever seen. BRI would involve more than 60 nations, two-thirds of the world’s population, and investments that may exceed $1 trillion. With it comes all manner of geopolitical, economic, and strategic questions.
Join us as we host a high-level delegation of Chinese leaders who are responsible for both the continued development of BRI, as well as discussions with the Trump administration on the 100-Day Plan for U.S.-China economic relations, which was launched at the recent meeting between Presidents Trump and Xi.
Keynote speakers will include Asia Society Policy Institute President and former Prime Minister of Australia The Hon. Kevin Rudd, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, China's Ambassador to the United States Ciu Tiankai, and Vice Chairman of the Twelfth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and former Chief Executive of Hong Kong C. H. Tung.
