Asian Outlook 2011
VIEW EVENT DETAILSDr. Changyong Rhee will speak at Asia Society on April 12 to launch the Asian Development Bank's flagship publication, Asian Development Outlook 2011. The presentation will be followed by a conversation with Dr. Scott MacDonald, Head of Credit and Economic Research, a Senior Managing Director, and Principal at Aladdin Capital Holdings; author, When Small Countries Crash.
The Asian Development Outlook is an annual economic report that provides a comprehensive analysis of macroeconomic and development issues of the developing member countries of the Asian Development Bank. Dr. Rhee will focus on the report's theme of South-South economic linkages. He will speak on the changing economic center of gravity from the North to the South and the opportunities this shift opens up for developing countries in Asia. The report includes empirical evidence and discusses policy options for developing Asian countries to benefit from the rising economic power of emerging markets through trade and investment.

Changyong Rhee is the Asian Development Bank's Chief Economist. Previously, Rhee served as Sherpa and Secretary General of the Presidential Committee for the G-20 Summit of the Republic of Korea, and was the Vice-Chairman of the Financial Services Commission as well as Chairman of the Securities & Futures Commission. He is an expert in debt management and fixed income markets with over 20 years of experience as an economist, financial advisor, and academic.
Scott MacDonald is the Head of Credit and Economic Research, a Senior Managing Director, and Principal at Aladdin Capital Holdings, LL, based in Stamford, Connecticut. Previously he worked at KWR International; Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette; Credit Suisse; and the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. He has considerable experience working in Asia and has published extensively on the region's economic issues. His most recent book is When Small Countries Crash (forthcoming in early 2011), and he is working on The Rise of Asia (also for 2011). He earned his MA from the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies, and his PhD in Political Science from the University of Connecticut.
