Asia Society and Sholay Productions are proud to present a special edition of the roving, New York based LGBTQ Bollywood inspired dance party, Desilicious, as we celebrate the final weekend of the exhibition The Progressive Revolution: Modern Art for a New India. Featuring DJ Ashu Rai, resident DJ and co-founder of Sholay Productions, bringing her signature mix of Bollywood-House music; South Asian Drag show with Lal Batti and Sundari; bollytronic visuals by Atif Toor; and free admission to the galleries. The Progressive Revolution: Modern Art for a New India, September 14, 2018–January 20, 2019
A landmark exhibition of spectacular oil paintings from the 1940s to 1990s, by members of the Progressive Artists' Group. At a time of massive political and social upheaval, these artists gave visual form to the idea of India as secular, diverse, international, and united.
Part of the Season of India, a series of programs held in conjunction with the exhibition, The Progressive Revolution: Modern Art for a New India, on view at Asia Society Museum from September 14, 2018, to January 20, 2019.
