Asia Society Rings in Year of the Dog During Annual Lunar New Year Celebration
Asia Society celebrated Lunar New Year with a day filled with crafts, dancing, traditional music, and more, for both kids and parents to enjoy. This year, the Moon Over Manhattan Lunar New Year celebration featured a special salmulnori percussion performance from the New York Korean Traditional Marching band, kung fu demonstrations and lion dancing by Bo Law Kung Fu, and variety of theater and music from Chinese Theatre Works.
During the performances, attendees were free to check out Asia Society Museum's exhibitions and take part in making art of their own. Crafts included puppet making, mask painting, Tibetan butter sculptures, clay dog charms by Syma, and Tibetan sand mandalas.
