SUMMARY:
Asia Society’s Endowment for Educational Opportunity Internship provides paid internships for promising undergraduates who might not otherwise be able to devote time to work at a non-profit organization. The goal of the Endowment is to give selected students greater knowledge of world affairs as well as practical experience in non-profit and Asia-related careers. The internship will provide hands-on experience and insight on choices for fields of study and future vocation.
Asia Society’s People and Culture (“P&C”) department is seeking an exceptional intern with a demonstrated interest in human resources management, including recruitment, benefits, talent management, learning and development, culture, and compliance. The intern will interact directly with the P&C Team, including the Managing Diector, Director, and HR Consultant.
This experience will allow the intern to:
- Shadow interviews and recruitment meetings
- Research new ideas/best practices for recruitment and onboarding
- Collaborate with the P&C team to design and roll out an updated orientation program
- Assist with conducting reference checks
- Contribute to the Asia Society internship program
- Participate in weekly calls with our benefits broker and HRIS/payroll vendor
- Work in the Paycom payroll/HRIS system modules including learning and development, goals, performance management, etc.
- Participate in employee meetings regarding benefits, onboarding and off-boarding
- Research new benefit offerings, regulations, laws & best practices
- Help organize staff events
- Shadow the P&C Team on meetings regarding performance management, goal setting, and staff events
- Research new ideas/best practices for performance management, organizational development, and talent/workforce management
- Research new and updated employment laws, regulations, and policies
REQUIREMENTS:
- Some familiarity with one or more core Human Resources subject matter areas including recruitment, onboarding, benefits, compensation, payroll, talent management, off-boarding, learning and development, organizational development, employee wellness, staff surveys, risk management, and compliance
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with a team
- Strong research and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Flexibility with handling diverse tasks
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
