Japan and Recovery
"Though the world's attention has moved on to other issues, Japan's crisis continues. With the nuclear issue still unresolved, a cloud of uncertainty hangs over the Japanese economy, and more importantly the Japanese people's lives,” says Asia Society Associate Fellow Alexandra Harney. “The hope is that this crisis will propel Japanese voters to demand significantly better leadership, not only from politicians but also from the corporate sector, where leadership has been similarly lacking. Perhaps the experience of having the country's tendency to hide unflattering information exposed on an international stage will shock Japanese voters and investors into demanding substantial change."
