Ambassador Shigutie has been serving as the Ambassador of Ethiopia to the Republic of Korea since March 2019. He also holds position as a Member of Parliament (2015-present).
His previous positions as a civil servant include: Member of Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) and Southern Ethiopia Peoples Democratic Movement (SEPDM) Central Committees (2002-2018); Board Chair of Addis Ababa University (2016-2018); Chief Coordinator for Democratic System Establishment Center (2016-2018); Secretary General of EPRDF (2016-2018); Board Chair of Development Bank of Ethiopia (2016-2018); Minister of Agriculture and Livestock (2018); Chair of SEPDM (2018); and Minister of Education (2013-2016).
Ambassador Shigutie holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University at California, and Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Ethiopian Civil Service College at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
