[ASK-Y] Session 1: Why Are the Youths Important? Today’s Concerns and the Youth

Asia Society Korea convened the first session of the 2022 Asia Society Korean Youth (ASK-Y) panel discussion on the youths and global concerns. The session was hosted by Asia Society Korea Executive Director Yvonne Kim.

The session Why Are the Youths Important? Today’s Concerns and the Youth focused on defining the youth and elucidating their significance in relation to the most important global concerns of the day.

The panel, moderated by Kit Nicholson, Masters in Arts Management & Administration at The SDA Bocconi School of Management, and Venu Parikh, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, conversed about why they think youths are crucial to addressing today's global issues, how to approach them, and which issues specifically call for the youth's attention.

Each ASK-Y participant discussed a variety of topics, including current youth activism as well as figures who are well-known for being young activists. A variety of significant topics affecting today's youth were covered by the panel, such as the usage of social media as venues for youth involvement and various youth-led activisms. Participants not only emphasized the significance of youths, but also what youths can do better in terms of addressing today's challenges and constructing a sustainable future. The conversation was insightful and served as a great starting point for our future sessions.
