On July 4, 2023, General YOSHIDA Yoshihide joined Asia Society Japan’s “Meet the General” series. Assuming his duties as Chief of Staff, Joint Staff of the Japan Self-Defense Force since March 2023, General Yoshida briefed the group on the current global challenges by Russia’s unprovoked attack on Ukraine, looking at the big picture and recognizing the strategic environment as well as how it is affecting us in the Pacific. The group engaged in a lively conversation dwelling into the priorities for Japan and the Self Defense Force, including recruitment strategies for top talent, how to work with the private sector, and the impact of China and North Korea.
