VIEW EVENT DETAILSAsia Society Texas Center’s Evolution

Members Only
On behalf of the Executive and Arts Committees, we are excited to welcome Owen Duffy, Ph.D., from Asia Society Texas Center. Owen serves as the Nancy C. Allen Curator and Director, leading their visual arts program and curating exciting exhibitions. He just completed the artist in residence program inviting 3 artists, transforming their galleries to studios for them to create works. With deep connections to Asia’s Contemporary arts scene, Owen brings a wealth of experience to the Texas Center.
Owen will share insights into the Texas Center’s evolution and their robust programs in arts and culture, business and policy, and education. Founded in 1979 by former First Lady Barbara Bush and Ambassador Roy M. Huffington, the Texas Center truly transformed when they opened their stunning 40,000-square-foot facility in 2012. Designed by Yoshio Taniguchi, famed for his work on the MoMA in New York, this building has become a landmark in Houston’s Museum District. Since moving to this new space, the Texas Center has expanded its programs, strengthening connections with the local community across visual and performing arts, education, and business and policy.
One of Asia Society’s greatest strengths is our global network. From the start of the Japan Center, we’ve aimed to build relationships with other centers, to collaborate and grow our network. This breakfast is a fantastic opportunity to engage with the Texas Center.
Please join us to meet Owen and learn more about their work.
