Naoto Fukazawa: Director of Nihon Mingei-kan  (The Japan Folk Crafts Museum)

Asia Society Japan Center is delighted to welcome, Mr. Fukazawa to the Arts Committee morning round table.  As consumers, we see his designs everyday through MUJI products or the famous Infobar mobile phones. He is also the current Director of Nihon Mingei-kan  (The Japan Folk Crafts Museum) in Komaba, Tokyo.  The museum was founded in 1936 to showcase the concept of then new aesthetics of the Mingei (folk crafts) movement.  Mr. Fukazawa curated the exhibition earlier this year at Design 21/21, titled” Exhibition Mingei – Another Kind of Art” which showcased the works of Mingei.

In this round table, Mr. Fukazawa will take us through a discussion titled,  "Mingei and Design" , an exploration of how the Mingei aesthetics have influenced and shaped today's designs.
