VIEW EVENT DETAILSJuly - "Dive to the Art World"
The Asia Society Japan Center Arts Committee is delighted to invite artist, Masayoshi Nojo to Arts for Breakfast 2020 breakfast this July. Mr. Nojo returned from his first solo exhibition in London in early spring titled, "Under the Moonlight” at the JD Malat Gallery.
Born in Kanagawa to an artistic family, from his early years, he was always painting. His family are all professional musicians, but his mother encouraged him to paint. After high school he attended Kyoto University of Art and Design to study Japanese Painting as an undergraduate and completed his MA in 2015. During his post graduate years, he traveled to London and was inspired by its art scene, so diverse and so different from Japan. This left quite a mark. Since then, his works have been exhibited in various galleries in Tokyo, but in the spring of 2018, he was discovered by visionary and internationally recognized art dealer, Jean-David Malat in New York. Which has taken him to places.
This roundtable discussion titled, “Dive to the Art World!”, Nojo-san will take us through his journey thus far and where he thinks he is headed as an up and coming artist. His techniques are unique and complex, where he combines contemporary visual languages with Japanese aesthetics, exploring the themes of memories and the passage of time.
Please register and join us for a discussion with Nojo-san.
