The post-WWII international order is undergoing transformative challenges, from conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East to climate crises and rapid technological advancements like artificial intelligence. These disruptions, alongside the rise of nationalistic policies in the "America First" era, have reshaped global dynamics—creating new opportunities for Japan to strengthen its ties with Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) as a strategic partner.
Asia Society Policy Salon Tokyo is honored to welcome Peru’s Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Roberto Hernan Seminario, to share his insights on how Peru and the LAC region can play a pivotal role in bridging advanced democracies and emerging economies. With a deep history of economic partnerships and cultural connections through the nikkei community, Japan and LAC have a renewed opportunity to build on their shared values and legacy of trust to explore new avenues for growth and innovation. Additionaly, LAC’s vast natural resources along with its GDP per capita surpassing ASEAN, position the region as an indispensable partner for Japan in advancing economic and environmental leadership.
Join us at Asia Society Japan’s latest Ambassador’s Circle to hear how Japan and LAC can lead together in climate change solutions, food security, and energy transitions, forging a partnership that drives prosperity and sustainable development for both regions.
