Shift in Power Balance: India, USA and China

A discussion on the current state of relations between India, USA and China and what the future holds for these very important nations. The discussion will focus on the emerging trade wars, democratic capitalism in these countries and other indispensable security and trade issues.
Mr Kevin Rudd, President, Asia Society Policy Institute, served as Australia’s 26th Prime Minister (2007-2010, 2013) and as Foreign Minister (2010-2012). He led Australia’s response during the Global Financial Crisis, reviewed by the IMF as the most effective stimulus strategy of all member states. Mr. Rudd helped found the G20 to drive the global response to the crisis, and which in 2009 helped prevent the crisis from spiralling into depression. He remains engaged in major international challenges including global economic management, the rise of China, and the global challenge of sustainable development. He was also a co-author of the 2012 report of the United Nations Secretary General’s High Level Panel on Global Sustainability – Resilient People, Resilient Planet.
Amb. Shyam Saran was Foreign Secretary of India from 2004 to 2006 and former Chairman of the National Security Advisory Board. He is currently a Senior Fellow and Member of the Governing of Board at the Centre for Policy Research, a prestigious think tank which covers a wide range of political, social and economic issues. He has formerly served as the Chairman of RIS, an autonomous think-tank specializing in trade and economic issues. He served as Ambassador of India to Myanmar, Indonesia, and Nepal as well as High Commissioner to Mauritius. After his retirement from the Indian Foreign Service, he was appointed the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Indo-U.S. civil nuclear issues and later as Special Envoy and Chief Negotiator on Climate Change.
