After Raining, It Will Be Sunny

KENTARO!! is a prize-winning Japanese dancer/choreographer who fuses hip-hop technique with contemporary dance and drama. His expression has a personal and sensitive tone, and he uses his own story line and original music. The young performer has already showcased his work extensively across Japan, Europe and Indonesia, and this is his first visit to India.

In 2008, his work Don't Cry, Wait in Tokyo won him the Grand Prix "Young Choreographer Prize" sponsored by the French Embassy for the Yokohama Dance Collection R Solo + Duo competition, the "Nextage Special Prize" and the "Audience Prize" at the Toyota Choreography Awards. At the end of that year he launched his dance company TOKYO ELECTROCK STAIR and tours regularly with them. KENTARO!! also directs dance groups that showcase performances based on street dance techniques, mixing spontaneous improvisation with elaborate choreography, including everyday elements that surround us.

In After Raining, It Will be Sunny KENTARO!! sprints through the present, evoking radically divergent moods that switch rapidly between gentleness and roughness, friendship and loneliness, amity and abhorrence, proximity and distance. The performance will be a presentation of exhilarating dance from this emerging artist who has already garnered numerous prestigious prizes.
