Dr. Arun Teja Polcumpally Joins Asia Society Policy Institute New Delhi as inaugural JSW Science and Technology Fellow

Friday, March 28, 2025 – Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI) is thrilled to announce that Dr. Arun Teja Polcumpally has joined ASPI’s Delhi office as its inaugural JSW Science and Technology Fellow. JSW Group’s support for the fellowship will be used for understanding India’s role and position on global science and technology governance issues, and to strengthen cooperation between India, Asia, and the world.
Dr. Polcumpally’s research focuses on the intersection of science, emerging technologies, data, geopolitics, and global governance. Before joining ASPI, he worked with the Wadhwani Center for Digital Transformation, the Center for Excellence for AI in Human Security, the Center for Security Studies, and the Center for Development Policy and Practice. He has published an edited volume entitled Emerging Technologies and India’s Security Sector, as well as several journal articles and op-eds for national and international publications, including AI & Society, Heliyon, The Hindu, and the Hindustan Times.
“Arun brings invaluable expertise to ASPI at a crucial moment for understanding artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies,” said Rorry Daniels, ASPI’s Managing Director. “His knowledge and long-standing track record of analysis will significantly enhance ASPI’s work on the intersection of technology, governance, and geopolitics.”
Since joining ASPI, Dr. Polcumpally has already published an opinion article on the Paris AI summit in the Hindustan Times.

Dr. Polcumpally has a PhD in International Affairs with a focus on AI surveillance from O.P. Jindal Global University, a master’s degree in International Relations from CHRIST University, and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from GITAM University. He also has certificates in machine learning and deep learning from the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bengaluru (IIIT - B), and in cybersecurity from Google.
