SUMMARY:
Asia Society Policy Institute in Delhi – a division of the Asia Society India Centre, is looking for an expert in science and technology diplomacy. The goal of the fellowship is to enhance understanding of India’s role and position on global science and technology governance issues, to strengthen cooperation between India, Asia, and the world. This is an extraordinary opportunity to represent India’s ambitions, experiences, and expertise in global conversations on cutting-edge developments that intersect science, technology, and policy in emerging domains.
The Fellow will engage with scientists, technology entrepreneurs, policymakers, business leaders, and members of civil society to build a shared understanding of science and technology policy issues, with the goal of formulating policy, designing guidelines, developing regulations, and drafting blueprints for new institutional mechanisms that will propel India’s engagements with the world.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Lead and develop the Science and Technology programme.
- Publish research in the form of papers, reports, journal articles, briefs, commentaries and op-eds.
- Curate and convene policy dialogues with policymakers, business leaders, scientists, policy experts and civil society to inform contemporary policy issues with evidence-backed research and findings.
- Conduct briefings on issues of science and technology for policymakers, business leaders, experts and student community.
- Manage grants that fund the projects, including budgeting, keeping track of expenses, timelines, deliverables, and drafting reports.
- Respond to requests from the print, television and social media to provide an evidence-based perspective on contemporary issues.
- Support ASPI Delhi in organisation-wide programming and commitments as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Indian Citizen
- Mid-career policy professional – 10-15 years of work experience
- Demonstrated expertise and experience with India’s science and technology policy issues
- Demonstrated expertise and experience with India’s foreign policy and global affairs
- Academic degree in science and/or technology (mandatory)
- Supplementary academic degree in public policy/international relations/law/journalism/business (preferred)
- Experience in working with policymakers and business leaders is a plus
- Strong research, writing, speaking and management skills
- Excellent command of the English language
- Motivated, disciplined, responsible and deliverable-oriented, team player
