Set against a serene garden, the main character Ru Yu wanders around and starts to recite and sing about the scenery around her. She eventually realises that what she sees and hears are but illusory and unreal, and slowly attains enlightenment and transcendence of life. On the stage, amidst the light strums of the pipa and voice, all enter into a realm of meditation and contemplation.

Beyond the Senses features the renowned Kunju artist Kong Aiping in her ground-breaking re-interpretation of classical Chinese poetry through ‘Atmospheric Music Theatre’, Law Wing-fai’s recent artistic direction which utilises the contemporary theatre as a means of expression. Revolving around the natural timbres of Chinese musical instruments and coupled with poetry, songs, music, dance and various visual elements, it hopes to cultivate a mood for reflection as well as a taste of Oriental aesthetics.

在靜謐清幽的園林裡，女子如玉漫步盤遊，遇物感興，徐徐開展多番吟詠與唱誦，只覺目所見耳所聞原是虛無縹緲，如夢幻泡影，漸次細味生命的感悟與昇華。蓮台上，如菊琴弦輕掃，如風禪步引領，如玉白衣飄袂，恬然在琵琶與吟唱聲中，進入靜觀默照的空寂境界。

《一色一香》邀得著名崑劇藝術家孔愛萍，以精湛的戲曲功架演繹多首意境深邃的中國古典詩詞，展現其超卓的唱腔吟誦及舞韻造詣。承接羅永暉近年的「意境音樂劇場」創作方向，演出藉著現代劇場的表現手法及中國樂器的自然音色，結合詩、歌、樂、舞及各種視覺元素，營造耐人思酌的東方意境和韻味。

Wuji Ensemble

Founded in 2003, the Ensemble consists of a group of local musicians, led by the renowned composer Law Wing-fai as artistic director and Pipa soloist Wong Chi-ching as music director. “Wuji” in Chinese means “boundless”, “endless” and “continuously evolving”. The Ensemble constantly commissions new works as well as new arrangements of existing repertoires in Chinese and Western music, and sometimes complemented with other theatrical elements. This series, Beyond the Senses, was also showcased at Hong Kong Music Series in London in 2017 presented by HKADC.

無極樂團

「無極」指可永續發展，無邊無界限的意思。無極樂團成立於2003年，由著名作曲家羅永暉擔任藝術總監，琵琶演奏家王梓靜為音樂總監，團員由多位本地音樂家組成。 演出曲目遊走於中西文化之間，以新委約創作或重新編配中西多類型的音樂曲目為主軸，配合變化多端的現代舞台效果，全面發揮自由靈活的多元媒體演奏形態。2017年《一色一香》獲邀於藝發局主辦的英國倫敦「香港音樂系列」演出。
