Türkiye - Hong Kong SAR Friendship Concert
Flute & Piano recital
A journey through the Music of Türkiye with traditional pieces arranged for the modern flute and piano, starting with Turkish folk song continuing with significant classical Turkish Composer from “The Turkish five” including Ulvi Cemal Erkin, until modern times with the premier of Fazil Say’s latest composition for flute and piano “Portreler”. Two young musicians will bring colors, rhythms and melodies of Türkiye in this musical evening.

Flutist Aliya Vodovozova is quickly making a name for herself as soloist, recording artist and chambermusician. She has been awarded top prizes in both solo and chamber music competitions including the 2nd prize at the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition in Copenhagen and 1st prize, ‘Ton & Erklärung’ competition in Germany with the Pacific Quintet. Aliya has performed internationally in many of the top music festivals including Verbier Festival (Switzerland), Pacific Music Festival (Japan), International Zermatt Music Festival and Academy (Switzerland) the Santander Encuentro (Spain) and Music academy of Villecroze (France). In 2024 Aliya won second prize and public’s prize with the Pacific Quintet ARD competition.

Shelley Ng has performed extensively on three continents in renowned venues and festivals, including the Tanglewood Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, Hong Kong Arts Festival and Taiwan International Festival of Arts. She has toured Europe, USA, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean in over 350 solo and chamber music concerts on the Lincoln Center Stage and Carnegie Hall. During the 2023/24 season, Shelley curated and performed a solo recital for the Prison Yard Festival at Tai Kwun. She spearheaded a Turkish-themed fundraising concert for the 2023 earthquake victims, presented by the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble and the Consulate General of Türkiye in Hong Kong. Shelley has also performed an all-Czech programme at the home of the Czech Consul General for guests of the consulate, and undertook an eight-city recital tour in the United States.
