Please join us for an evening in the company of The Honorable Dr. Kevin Rudd AC, President and CEO of the Asia Society and 26th Prime Minster of Australia, as he prepares to take up the post of Australia’s Ambassador to the United States. In conversation with Asia Society Hong Kong Center Chairman Ronnie C. Chan, Dr. Rudd will share his views on how to navigate the challenging current geopolitical landscape characterized by Sino-US strategic competition, drawing from his most recent book, The Avoidable War: The Dangers of a Catastrophic Conflict between the US and Xi Jinping’s China, and reflect on his leadership of the Asia Society and establishment of the Asia Society Policy Institute.
The Hon. Dr. Kevin Rudd AC is President and CEO of the Asia Society, and inaugural President of the Asia Society Policy Institute. He served as 26th Prime Minister of Australia (2007 to 2010, 2013) and as Foreign Minister (2010 to 2012). He is Chair of the Board of the International Peace Institute in New York, and Chair of Sanitation and Water for All – a global partnership of government and non-governmental organizations dedicated to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6. He is a Distinguished Fellow at Chatham House and the Paulson Institute, and a Distinguished Statesman with the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He is also a member of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization’s Group of Eminent Persons.
Ronnie C. Chan (Moderator) is the Chair of Hang Lung Group Limited and its subsidiary Hang Lung Properties Limited, both publicly listed in Hong Kong. Hang Lung expanded into mainland China in 1992, developing, owning and managing world-class commercial complexes in key tier one and tier two cities. Mr. Chan co-founded Morningside, a diversified investment group engaged in private equity and venture capital investments in North America, Asia, and Europe. Mr. Chan is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Chair Emeritus of the Asia Society and Chairman of its Hong Kong Center, and Co-Founder and Chairman of the Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society.
We look forward to your support. Proceeds from the evening will contribute to supporting the Asia Society’s mission of educating people about the countries and cultures of Asia, and global issues that impact the region.
