In this evening program, the first in a series dedicated to ASHK's current exhibition A World Within: The Art and Inspiration of Irene Chou, we invite Dr. Eva Man Kit Wah, Director of the Academy of Film, Baptist University of Hong Kong and exhibition catalogue contributor; Johnson Chang, independent curator and director of Hanart TZ Gallery (Hong Kong); and artist Leung Kui Ting to join us in a discussion moderated by curator Joyce Hei-ting Wong which will explore the art of pioneering ink painter Irene Chou (1924-2011). The talk will share more on the curatorial vision of the current exhibition, and consider Chou’s art practice in relation to the New Ink Painting Movement; Hong Kong modernism of the 1960s-1980s; feminine aesthetics and other personal stories.
在這個講座中,亞洲協會香港中心邀請了浸大電影學院人文學講座教授總監文潔華教授,聯同獨立策展人兼漢雅軒(香港)總監,及《萬象之根:周綠雲繪畫藝術展》圖錄撰稿人張頌仁,和藝術家梁巨廷,一起參加由策展人黃熙婷主持的講座,探討香港新水墨畫家周綠雲(1924-2011)的藝術作品。這次講座將分享更多關於是次展覽的策展願景,和周氏於新水墨運動中的藝術實踐﹔20世紀60年代至80年代的香港現代主義﹔女性美學和其人生故事。

Johnson Chang is an Independent curator, guest professor of China Academy of Art (Hangzhou, China), and director of Hanart TZ Gallery (Hong Kong). He has been active in curating Chinese exhibitions since the 1980s, including co-curator of Guangzhou Triennial in 2008 (“Farewell to Post-Colonialism”), Shanghai Biennale in 2012, and “East Meets West” at Saatchi Gallery in 2014. Current active projects include Jia Li Hall, a series of research on Confucian rites and aesthetics; West Heavens, Sino Indian exchange in art and social thought; Yaji Garden (a project relating to the Yellow Box Projects), which investigates Chinese aesthetic space and its culture of connoisseurship; and Inter-Asia School, which organised the “Inter-Asia Biennale Forums” at the Shanghai Biennial, Gwangju Biennial, Taipei Biennial and Kochi-Muziris Bienniale in 2014 and 2016.
策展人,中國美術學院跨媒體學院客座教授,香港漢雅軒總監。張頌仁近年關心的命題是中國當代藝術對世界的回饋。1980年代以來,他的策展實踐推動了中國藝術在國際的發展,包括2008年聯合策展廣州三年展的「與後殖民說再見」, 2012年第九屆上海雙年展,和2014-2015於倫敦薩奇畫廊舉辦的「後波普藝術:東西交匯」(Post Pop: East Meets West) 。近年推動的項目包括:「嘉禮堂」中國禮文化的綜合研究與實踐;「西天中土」印度和中國的藝術與社會思想交流;「雅集園林」(源自「黃盒子」研究項目)中國展示與鑑賞文化的當代實踐;通過「亞際書院」發起的學術思想項目「2014亞際雙年展論壇」(於2014及2016在光州雙年展、上海雙年展、台北雙年展、科欽‧穆茲裡斯雙年展推出)。

Leung Kui-Ting was born in 1945,Guangzhou. He moved to Hong Kong with his family at the age of 3. He was a carpenter at young age and studied painting under Lui Shou Kwan in 1964. He graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and studied Design under Wucius Wong. He was the part-time lecturer at the Hong Kong Polytechnic and now the Principal and Director of Academic Affairs of Hong Kong Chingying Institute of Visual Art, also the Honorary Advisor to the Leisure and Cultural Service Department, Hong Kong.
梁巨廷1945年生於廣州,三歲隨家人移居香港。年輕時曾當木匠,1964年隨呂壽琨習畫,1965 年修讀香港中文大學校外進修部平面設計課程,隨王無邪學習設計。1974 年至1990 年間於香港理工學院兼任講師逾十年,1980 年創辦香港正形設計學院。1980 年至2011 年間為香港正形設計學校校董。現為香港政府康樂及文化事務署藝術專家顧問。

Professor Eva Kit Wah Man obtained her Ph. D from Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is presently Director and Chair Professor of the Academy of Film, Baptist University of Hong Kong. Her academic research areas include Comparative Aesthetics, Neo-Confucian Philosophy, Feminist Aesthetics and Philosophy, Gender Studies and Cultural Studies. She has published numerous refereed journal articles, creative prose writings and academic books in Philosophy and Aesthetics. She is also writing columns for Mingpao and Hong Kong Economic Journal. She hosts cultural programmes for Radio Television Hong Kong and the Metro Radio Hong Kong. In 2004, she acts as a Fulbright Scholar at U C Berkeley, U.S., and a visiting scholar of Clare Hall College, Cambridge University, UK.
文潔華教授是香港浸會大學研究院行政副院長、人文及創作系教授。研究及著作範圍包括:比較美學、比較哲學、女性主義哲學、文化研究、性別研究、文化藝術等。文教授亦發表多篇關於哲學和美學的論文,散文和學術著作。她亦為明報和香港經濟日報撰寫專欄,及於香港電台和新城電台主持文化節目。2014年開始,文教授於美國加州大學柏克萊分校擔任傅爾布萊特計畫學者,並在英國劍橋大學擔任克萊爾學院訪問學者。
Joyce Hei-ting Wong is a Curator at Asia Society Hong Kong Center. She holds a BA from the University of Hong Kong, double majoring in English Literature and Fine Art (2015). Exhibitions she has worked on include Life is Only One: Yoshitomo Nara (2015); Bat Cave: Treasures of the Day and Creatures of the Night (2015), Shen Wei: Dance Strokes (2016), Shahzia Sikander: Apparatus of Power (2016), Roaring Guardians: The Mari- Cha Lion with Asian Traditional and Contemporary Art (2017), Breathing Space: Contemporary Art from Hong Kong (2017). Most recently, she assisted the inauguration of ASHK’s 20th Century Chinese Female Artist Series with Painting Her Way: The Ink Art of Fang Zhaoling (2017) curated by Kuiyi Shen and Julia F. Andrews, the first installment preceding Song of Spring: Pan Yu-Lin in Paris.
黃熙婷是亞洲協會香港中心策展人。她畢業於香港大學文學院,獲得英國文學及美術雙修學位(2015年)。她參與過的展覽包括《無常人生:奈良美智》(2015)﹔《別有洞天:蝙蝠之旅》(2015)﹔《沈偉:舞繪》(2016)﹔《莎茲亞‧西坎達:意象演義》(2016)﹔《守護神獅:瑪烈莎獅獸像》(2017)﹔《喘息空間:香港當代藝術展》(2017)。她亦參與20世紀中國女性藝術家系列展覽:《道無盡:方召麐水墨藝術展》(2017),及《春之歌:潘玉良在巴黎》(2018)。
