Asia Society Hong Kong Center proudly presents Objects of Play: Hoo Mojong Centennial Retrospective, the fifth instalment in the Contemporary Chinese Female Artist Series.
Hoo Mojong (1924-2012), a trailblazer in modern art, stands as a key figure in bridging Eastern and Western artistic languages. Throughout her life, she lived in China, Brazil, Spain, and France, with these travel experiences profoundly shaping her work. The Objects of Play exhibition will showcase nearly 100 works from different stages of her artistic career, including paintings, drawings, prints, and archival materials, offering a comprehensive view of her unique artistic philosophy and the power of the ordinary.
The Opening Symposium will be co-organized together by The Art Journal and Bao Foundation. The thematic focus of this particular session will center on Hoo Mojong as a point of departure to discuss diasporic Chinese female artists in a global context.
