After about four months, Asia Society Hong Kong Center in collaboration with Hong Kong String Orchestra are bringing back a live concert to the community in compliance with social distance measures. In this concert, a group of 11 young musicians together with Andrew Ling will perform two pieces by Beethoven - String Trio in D major, Op. 8 No. 1 and String Quintet in C major; and Simple Symphony, Op. 4 by Britten. Britten's mother had been widening his classical repertoire with the music of various renowned composers including Beethoven. He was even given the score of Beethoven's opera "Fidelio" as his fourteenth birthday present. Inspired by Beethoven and other great composers, Britten wrote reams of music when he was ten.
Hong Kong-native ANDREW LING is a concert violist and violinist, conductor, and music educator. His appearances as concert soloist have included the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. A versatile and an all-round musician, Andrew has brought his musicianship to conducting engagements with the HK Phil and the Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra.
