- Pinky Lai, Former Chief Designer, Porsche A.G.
Pinky Lai Ping was born and raised in Hong Kong’s Quarry Bay neighborhood. After industrial design schooling under scholarship in Europe, he landed his first job in the automobile industry through a design competition in the early 1980’s. In 1989, he arrived at Porsche where he eventually rose through the ranks and became the world’s top performance car company’s Chief Designer. Pinky is credited with designing the car that helped transform the fortunes of Porsche — Boxster 987. Pinky has just retired from Porsche this year after 26 years, and is now an independent consultant to Porsche, as well as to a handful of other automobile manufacturers including a number of Chinese companies. Pinky will be sharing his insight on designing Porsches for decades, and everything in between about the automobile industry.
