Pan Yu-Lin (1895-1977) was a pioneering female artist of early 20thcentury China in blending the East and the West. Her works are an artistic expression of her true self and her outlook on life. Throughout her lifetime, Pan produced over 5,000 artworks, comprising oil and ink paintings, prints and sculptures. It was through her portraits and self-portraits, in particular, that she often projected herself and her feelings. Through her audacious style and sensitive artworks, Pan inspires us to think about the question of expressing the self through art.
To encourage public participation in art creation and appreciation, Asia Society Hong Kong Center welcomed visitors of all ages to give in to their imagination and respond to Pan Yu-Lin’s work and her world, through this open art competition and exhibition. The winning and excellent award submission will be exhibit at Chantel Miller Gallery.
“Expressing Self: Inspired by Pan Yu-Lin” Art Competition and Exhibition is divided into three divisions: Children (aged under 10), Youth (aged 11-17), and Open (aged 18 and above).
