This lunch will take place in the ASHK Chairman’s office at the Standard Chartered Bank Building in Central.
Asia Society Hong Kong Center (ASHK) is proud to present a luncheon and fireside chat with Mr. George Osborne, partner at Robey Warshaw LLP and former UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, on Britain’s role in today’s uncertain world. In this exclusive, off-the-record discussion with ASHK Chairman Ronnie C. Chan, Mr. Osborne will consider the recent significant shifts in geopolitics and the global economic environment and how Britain can respond. Will Britain rise to the moment and take on new leadership roles? How will Britain’s relations with the European Union and European allies evolve under the strains of this moment?

George Osborne is a partner at Robey Warshaw LLP, a boutique investment bank. Prior to this, he was the editor-in-chief of London’s Evening Standard newspaper and was the UK’s Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2010 – 2016 and First Secretary of State from 2015 – 2016.
George is Chair of the British Museum. He is also the President of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership, a not-for-profit organisation he established with business and civic leaders to promote economic development in the North of England. He is a founding partner of 9Yards Capital and he is a visiting professor at Stanford University. He was an adviser to the BlackRock Investment Institute from 2017 – 2021 and he is the Chair of Lingotto Investment Management LLP. The Right Honourable George Osborne CH received the Companion of Honour from Her Majesty the Queen in 2016.

Ronnie C. Chan is the Honorary Chair of Hang Lung Group Limited and its subsidiary Hang Lung Properties Limited, both publicly listed in Hong Kong. Hang Lung expanded into mainland China in 1992, developing, owning and managing world-class commercial complexes in key tier one and tier two cities. In 1986, Mr. Chan co-founded Morningside, a diversified investment group engaged in private equity and venture capital investments in North America, Asia, and Europe. He founded and chairs the China Heritage Fund, and is a cofounding Director of The Forbidden City Cultural Heritage Conservation Foundation in Beijing. Mr. Chan is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Chair Emeritus of the Asia Society and Chairman of its Hong Kong Center, and Co-Founder and Chairman of the Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society.
