In a land-scarce Hong Kong, we will all think that farms are all allocated in the rural areas. With urban farming, we can make growing our own food in the city a reality! Join social enterprise Rooftop Republic Urban Farming for an educational and interactive urban farming workshop for members of the Asia Society Hong Kong Center in the heart of the city in Sheung Wan.
During this 2-hour farm tour and workshop, you will learn more about organic farming and how to grow your own food through a series of hands-on activities like planting seeds and potting. On top of that, you will also learn about the seasonality of vegetables, composting and how to make natural pesticides and fertilizers. This workshop will be highly interactive and enjoyable for adults and children alike, come prepared to get your hands dirty! You will also get a seedling pot to take home to grow! Children are welcomed to join, but need an accompanied adult to guide them along. This would also be an engaging and fun parent-and-child activity during the Easter weekend.
Programme Provider: Rooftop Republic Urban Farming was set up in 2015, and over the past 5 years, their multi-disciplinary team has been quietly setting up numerous farms on the rooftops of various buildings in the city. Their mission is to make our city more liveable through connecting people with their food, nature and their communities. For more information, visit: www.rooftoprepublic.com
