Known as Hong Kong’s “Bird Paradise,” the Mai Po Nature Reserve has been managed by WWF-Hong Kong since 1983. With its high diversity of wetland habitats including gei wais (traditional shrimp ponds), mangroves, intertidal mudflats and reedbeds, the reserve is an important habitat and staging site for waterbirds. In 1995, the reserve and the Inner Deep Bay wetlands were recognized as a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention. Visitors to Mai Po can experience nature first-hand, enriching their knowledge of Hong Kong’s natural environment.
Join us on a guided eco-tour to discover the native ecosystem Mai Po with two professional activity guides from Hong Kong Bird Watching Society. We will visit the natural habitats of wildlife, as well as the birdwatching hides, to learn about our precious wetland environment first-hand. Wetland is of high biodiversity and serves as the habitat of numerous species. Let’s sign up now to go out from the “concrete jungle” to experience the beauty of this truly unique and ecologically diverse wetland location, and learn the importance of environmental protection and sustainable development.
