In an effort to encourage public participation in artistic creation, and to popularize contemporary art appreciation, with the generous support of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, Asia Society Hong Kong Center invited all “Life is Only One: Yoshitomo Nara” exhibition visitors to give in to their imagination, and engage in a dialogue with Yoshitomo Nara’s works and his world through this open art competition and exhibition. Several hundred exhibition visitors have participated in the competition, artistically expressing their imagination and emotions toward life in response to or as aspired by Yoshitomo Nara’s art. Winning and selected works are exhibited in Chantal Miller Gallery during August 9 -16, 2015.

“Life is Only One – Imagination of Life” Art Competition is divided into three divisions: children, youth, and open. This exhibition includes winning and selected artworks from all divisions and media, including painting, digital work, sculpture, and printmaking. In addition to selected works from the art competition, this exhibition also includes a summary on education programs offered alongside “Life is Only One: Yoshitomo Nara” from March to July 2015. This dedicated segment of the exhibition includes videos of the “Illustration Master Class” series – workshops led by Hong Kong artists Carrie Chau, Kit Lau, Prudence Mak, Wilson Shieh, and Yeung Hok Tak – as well as images from “Sunday with Nara” Drop-in Studio, and Arts Access Program.
