Session Formats

IGNITE Talks
These 10 – 15 minute talks will serve to inspire and provoke thought for conference attendees. Featuring experts from business, education and other related fields, IGNITE talks will serve as a powerful platform to launch discussion and further exploration. These talks will focus on three main themes: the importance of developing globally competent students, globally significant issues that impact everyone and lessons to be learned from educational systems around the world.

Breakout Sessions
These 75-minute workshops are intended to allow conference participants a chance to explore topics in greater depth. Led by practitioners and leading global education organizations, these interactive workshops will provide a hands-on learning experience that will leave you with ideas, strategies and tools to use back in your own community.

Innovation Lab
The Innovation Lab will provide a more in-depth opportunity to hear from the featured IGNITE talk speakers. As part of PennGSE’s Mid-Career Doctoral Program Innovations Lab, join the @BACKCHANNELedu podcast, where educational leaders use social media to reflect on real scenarios impacting student learning and school culture. Participate in the production of these podcasts by interacting with the speakers in a Q & A format.

Teacher Swap Shops
The Teacher Swap Shops provide an opportunity for teachers and educators to exchange practical classroom activities and materials, in an interactive, informal setting. Presenters will share their own activities and materials with other teachers in a series of mini-presentations. This is an excellent opportunity to experience new teaching materials and pedagogical ideas.

Unconference
You’ve heard from everyone else, now share your expertise! Using topics generated from the audience, the unconference sessions will encouraged you to share your experience, insights and wonderment. Stay for all of the discussion, or hop from one discussion to another…this is your time to “fill in the gaps” on topics you may not have had a chance to explore yet at the conference.
