What is a social media campaign focused on a global issue?
The majority of students nowadays are technologically savvy and most of them, if not all, spend a lot of their time online. As innovative teachers, it is important that to embrace this reality and find ways to integrate technology in the classroom. A social media campaign is a series of coordinated activities aimed at achieving a specific goal over a set period of time, with outcomes that can be tracked and measured. It can be limited to a single network, or take place across multiple social media platforms.
These campaigns are designed to focus on one message that is relayed in a variety of different ways to a variety of different audiences. Generally these campaigns are used to market or sell products and services, but designing a campaign to spread awareness and encourage action toward improving up a global issue is just as important. Developing a social media campaign offers students the opportunity to not only enhance their knowledge about a particular topic, but learn how to use social media for positive and purposeful change.

Now, how do I make this project authentic?
For youth today, few things will shape their worldview more than social media. That means that social media has become the definitive platform for marketing agencies to reach the younger generations. With these projects, your students will build marketing skills by thinking about how to convey critical global issues to a wide audience. Students will also strive to become more educated consumers of information by examining how organizations, influencers, and companies use social media to target or educate them.
