Chinese language teacher Yanjuan Zhu, who teaches at the Global Village Academy – Northglenn in Northglenn, Colorado facilitates a group presentation that encourages students’ interpersonal communication before and after the presentation.

Classroom Video

In this TEQ video activity, we will watch the Chinese language teacher, Yanjuan Zhu’s 2nd-grade Chinese immersion class at the Global Village Academy – Northglenn in Northglenn, Colorado. This video presents a group presentation that encourages students’ interpersonal communication before and after the presentation. The teacher’s explanation with her well-designed slides provides the students with clear instructions on how to prepare for the presentation task. This activity reveals that the process of preparing and discussing a presentation is as important as the presentation itself. Teachers should create opportunities and guide the students to engage in actual communication as they prepare for the group presentation. From this video, we can see this Chinese language class is full of students’ spontaneous conversations and natural self-expression in the target language.
