Chinese Language Partner Network

Asia Society Chinese Language Partner Network are a national network of exemplary Chinese language programs selected through a competitive application process. The network currently comprises more than 35,000 students studying Chinese in around 100 elementary, middle, and high schools located in 25 states and the District of Columbia.

These schools all have a strong commitment to making their Chinese program a core part of a larger mission to help students become globally competent. These schools not only have effective Chinese language instruction, but also strong local leadership and support, and a demonstrated commitment to international exchange and collaboration. They also act as resource centers for other schools in the region.

Each school is linked with a sister school in China to enhance opportunities for language learning and provide students, teachers, and administrators with opportunities to conduct exchanges and joint projects.

Asia Society designed the selection process for the 100 American schools, assisted them in creating linkages with schools in China, organizes events for school administrators, convenes an annual meeting in conjunction with the National Chinese Language Conference, provides ongoing support through email newsletters and professional development opportunities for teachers, and collects data to assess progress.

Schools in the Chinese Language Partner Network serve as model sites for developing the field of Chinese language teaching in American schools.
