STARR FORUM: Xi Jinping’s Third Term: Challenges for the United States

A Task Force on U.S.-China Policy Discussion

In the wake of the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), many China policy experts have been busy assessing Xi Jinping’s China and what it means for U.S.-China relations. The Starr Forum at MIT on November 17, 2022, brought together five China scholars, all members of the Task Force on U.S.-China Policy, to discuss Xi Jinping’s third term and the challenges it may pose for the United States.

 

Moderator:

Yasheng Huang is the Epoch Foundation Professor of International Management and Faculty Director of Action Learning at the MIT Sloan School of Management. 

Panelists:

M Taylor Fravel is the Arthur and Ruth Sloan Professor of Political Science and Director of the MIT Security Studies Program at MIT.

Arthur Kroeber is the Founding Partner and Head of Research at Gavekal Economics. 

Susan Shirk is a Research Professor and Chair, 21st Century China Center, at the University of California San Diego.

Jessica Chen Weiss is the Michael J  Zak Professor for China and Asia-Pacific Studies at Cornell University.
