The Road Ahead: The First Green Long March
VIEW EVENT DETAILSThe Long March of 1934 was a retreat of thousands of young Chinese Communist soldiers against the Nationalist forces to win the Chinese revolution and launch Modern China. More than 70 years after the revolution, international NGO FutureGenerations teamed up with Beijing Forestry University to organize the first Green Long March. 2000 college students from 43 universities across the nation marched for 20 days, covering 22 provinces and 10 ecological zones--including the barrenness of Xinjiang, the fertile pastures of Inner Mongolia, and the luxuriant valleys of Sichuan in China--with the aim of community interaction, conservation education, and seed-scale survey, inspiring 250,000 people to visualize a sustainable future for China.
