Video: 'Iran Modern' Showcases 'Originality, Indviduality,' According to Co-Curator
Asia Society Museum's current exhibition, Iran Modern, offers a fresh look at 20th-century Iranian cultural history through artwork from painters, photographers, designers, and sculptors created during the three decades leading up to the 1979 revolution.
In the above video, Iran Modern co-curator Fereshteh Daftari shares her insights into the inception, curation and themes of the art on view. Daftari explains that she hopes viewers will come away from the exhibition convinced "modern art outside the West is not derivative" and impressed by the "individuality of each artist."
Hailed as a "standout show" by The New Yorker, Iran Modern is on view until January 5, 2014.
