On October 13, 2015, Asia Society hosted its second annual "Asia Game Changer" awards at the United Nations in New York. The award was established to "fill a vital gap, identifying and honoring true leaders making a positive contribution to the future of Asia." The 2015 honorees included Chinese telecommunications magnate Lei Jun, Indian American comedian and actor Aasif Mandvi, Emirati fighter pilot Mariam al-Mansouri, education innovator Kiran Bir Sethi, inventors of LED light bulbs Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano, and Shuji Nakamura, ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar, Queensland Ballet Artistic Director Li Cunxin, and boxer Manny Pacquiao.
Above, watch a video throwback to the event including interviews with the honorees.
In the year celebrating Asia Society's 60th anniversary, we'll periodically reach into the archives for "Throwback Thursday" (#TBT). Some photos will feature important moments, some will feature important people, and others still will just be photos we love. Do you have an Asia Society photo you'd like us to consider including in this series? Please email the photo and any related details to photos@theasiablog.org (we regret that we won't be able to respond directly to each inquiry).
