Discuss: Is Obama Steering the Country in the Right Direction?
What has really changed since Bush left the White House? Very little, according to Pakistani historian Tariq Ali, who will be speaking about his new book, The Obama Syndrome, on September 17 at Asia Society. Ali argues that the honeymoon is over for Barack Obama and that his election campaign promises for reform have fallen short. He says the Obama adminstration has made a number of mistakes, from bailing out Wall Street to missteps in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Has the Obama administration lived up to its promises to improve relations with Asia? How has the perception of the US changed in Asia since Obama's election? And do you agree with the administration's decision to increase US troop levels in Afghanistan and drone attacks in Pakistan’s border areas?
