Following the conclusion of Tuesday's historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, President Donald Trump boasted that Pyongyang "no longer posed a nuclear threat." But according to two of America's most prominent experts on North Korean nuclear diplomacy, the United States walked away from the summit with remarkably little to show for itself — and that the meeting was a "bonanza" for Kim.
In this episode of Asia Abridged, Asia Society Policy Institute Vice President for International Security and Diplomacy Daniel Russel and former Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy R. Sherman explain why the Singapore summit was such a disappointment for the United States and how Kim Jong Un has gained a formidable position in respect to the countries trying to contain North Korea's nuclear program.
