[WEBCAST] Gen A | A Masterclass with Alibaba’s John O’Loghlen
VIEW EVENT DETAILSCreating opportunity amidst uncertainty: Lessons from an entrepreneur and business leader
How do you future proof a career in China (or China ‘adjacent’) against changing consumer habits, trade ties and to the backdrop of intensifying global tensions?
John O’Loghlen, Director of Alipay in Australia, part of Ant Financial Group, shares his career journey and lessons learnt in our latest Gen A masterclass, hosted by Belinda Cheng, Director of Asia-Pacific Tax Innovation Hub & EY Foundry Leader for Sydney and Singapore.
John is no stranger to a career change or pivot but working with and in China has remained a constant. Starting out in investment banking, John then entered the start-up and innovation scene and found success as co-founder of the Beijing-based pizza chain, Gung Ho! having spent three years learning about food in the Domino’s Pizza International business across Asia. He now heads up Alipay’s operations in Australia having started with Alibaba Group’s e-commerce business in Australia and New Zealand in 2016 when the team was just two people. As John’s career has expanded, our relationship with China has changed, yet, despite diplomatic tensions at an all time low, no other country offers the breadth of innovation, dynamism and growth that China does.
Join us as we explore how John has created career opportunities in a changing China and what Asia-engaged early career professionals can learn form his experiences in finance, start-up, and tech.
