[WEBCAST] Executive Briefing | An update from Japan with The Hon. Richard Court AC, Australian Ambassador to Japan
VIEW EVENT DETAILSHow is Japan balancing the fight against COVID-19 with the need to maintain economic activity? How is the virus affecting the country’s social, political and economic stability, and what will be impacts into the future?
Asia Society Australia warmly invites you to a private briefing with The Hon. Richard Court AC, Australian Ambassador to Japan. While many other countries have enforced strict lockdowns in the face of COVID-19, Japan has opted for a soft lockdown, instead relying on its citizens to exercise “self-restraint”. Despite being at the forefront of COVID-19 when forced to deal with the Diamond Princess crisis, Japan has managed to “flatten the curve” with a relatively low death rate. As Japan looks to ease restrictions, how will Prime Minister Abe address the “severe situation” in the world’s third largest economy, and what will be COVID-19’s lasting effects on Japan’s relations with its neighbours?
Join us as we discuss how Japan has faced COVID-19 and what that means for Australian organisations.
