Gen A | Chronicling Asia from Australia's Perspective
VIEW EVENT DETAILS
Asia Society Australia is pleased to invite you to Gen A | Chronicling Asia from Australia's Perspective, presented in partnership with Bloomberg.
As Asia’s geopolitical, economic, and cultural landscapes continue to shift, the way Australia documents and engages with the region becomes even more critical. Ben Westcott, Bloomberg, and Jennifer Hsu, University of New South Wales will explore the intricate dynamics of how Australia reports on and interprets developments across Asia through media and policy.
The conversation will explore the varied freedoms and constraints faced by writers, researchers, and commentators across the region, and advice for navigating these. In some countries, tighter government control is stifling expression, while in others, expanding freedoms are creating a more open dialogue. In Australia, the footprint of reporting on Asia has diminished, presenting new challenges for chronicling the region’s complexities.
Following the discussion, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with fellow Gen A members and early-career professionals interested in Asia over food and drinks.
Date: Wednesday 20th November
