Asia Society Australia, in partnership with the Committee for Sydney is proud to host a special discussion on Australia’s relationship with India in the context of the broader Asia-Pacific region.
India is the world's largest democracy and a major regional power. It is Australia's fifth largest export market, and tenth largest trading partner overall. Over the next 20 years, a growing India will need many of Australia's goods and services – including in education, agriculture, energy, resources, tourism, healthcare, financial services, infrastructure, science and innovation, and sport.
This event will examine the future of Australia’s relationship with India in the context of the broader Asia-Pacific region. It will discuss the Federal Government’s recently published India Economic Strategy and how cities like Sydney can develop closer economic ties with India.
Chaired by Sally Fielke, Board Member of The Committee for Sydney, panellists will include James Crabtree, Associate Professor, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, former Mumbai Correspondent for the Financial Times, and author of The Billionaire Raj; Jonathan Pearlman, Editor, Australian Foreign Affairs; and Sheba Nandkeolyar, Immediate Past National Chair of AIBC and Board Member of Australia India Council.
