[WEBCAST] Executive Briefing | The Future of International Cooperation with The Hon. Mitch Fifield, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations
VIEW EVENT DETAILSHas 2020 heralded the end of multilateralism as we know it, or provided a moment to reimagine our global systems?
Asia Society Australia warmly invites you to a private briefing with The Hon. Mitch Fifield, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, as we discuss the future of UN-led international cooperation in an increasingly multipolar world.
The United Nations has come under fire in recent months, appearing to many as 'missing in action' while the coronavirus pandemic continues to disrupt life across the globe. Our capacity to tackle global issues with a global response has been challenged. As countries increasingly turn inward to deal with the after-effects of COVID-19, bodies like the UN Security Council, are at an impasse. Traditionally seen as the pinnacle for maintaining international peace and security, does the UN have the power to enact change in the face of global crisis or, 75 years-on, must we look to a new system to tackle our global realities?
