How can Australian businesses succeed in Vietnam?

Asia Society Australia’s inaugural Australian CEO Roundtable on Vietnam will bring together Australia’s business, university and civil society leaders with experience and interest in Vietnam to discuss trade and investment opportunities for Australian business in Vietnam and practical ways where government, business and university sector can work together in a “Team Australia” approach to strengthen the bilateral economic partnership.

The Federal Government has designated Vietnam as a priority economic and strategic partner in the Indo-Pacific region. Vietnam is also a priority market for Victoria. The Asia Taskforce by Asia Society Australia and Business Council of Australia has also identified Vietnam as a key country for Australia in the context of a more diversified portfolio of trade partnerships.

The new report 'A Path to Vietnam: Opportunities and Market Insights for Australian Business' by Asia Society Australia and the Australian APEC Study Centre at RMIT University released in 2020 had comprehensively mapped out trade and investment opportunities for Australian business in Vietnam. The next step is for Australia to work with Vietnam to pursue these opportunities and turn them into business outcomes.

This CEO Roundtable is a vital step towards maximising the opportunities outlined in the report and to ensure more strategic and stronger bilateral trade into 2021.
