Join us for an evening celebrating women in trade as Asia Society Australia and Global Victoria Women (GVw) invite emerging and established female business leaders to the newly-launched Asia Trade and Innovation Hub.

You will have the opportunity to hear an informal discussion with the following female leaders before networking:

Thanh Van Dang

Thanh Van Dang, Asia Society Victoria Distinguished Fellow and Founder and CEO of Savvycom

Visiting Melbourne from Hanoi, Dang Thi Thanh Van (born 1980) is the Asia Society Victoria Distinguished Fellow and CEO of Savvycom. Dang Thi Thanh Van (born 1980) is a renowned entrepreneur in the field of technology and an inspirational figure for women in Vietnam.

She founded Savvycom in 2009 and has led the company into one of the top 30 technology companies in Vietnam. Savvycom specializes in consulting and providing software solution services in finance, healthcare, and retail for domestic and international businesses.

Currently, Ms. Thanh Van is holding the positions of Vice President of Vietnam Alliance of Digital Technology Enterprises (VNITO), Vice President of Hanoi Women Entrepreneurs Association, member of Steering Committee of Aus4Innovation program. Ms. Van has spoken on innovation and digital transformation at many major events such as TEDx, APEC and the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, and is a regular judge at startup competitions.

Gonul Serbest

Gönül Serbest, Chief Executive Officer, Global Victoria

Gönül Serbest is the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of Global Victoria responsible for leading the Government’s global engagement efforts. As part of this role, she heads the State’s international network of 23 trade and investment offices including Melbourne head office, leads a team that drives economic growth in Victoria by facilitating exports and promotes the State’s world class industry capabilities and education sector to international audiences.

Over her twelve years working in the international trade portfolio, Gönül has led the development and execution of the largest trade missions to leave Australia into emerging markets and the largest inbound trade delegations to visit Victoria. These programs have resulted in several significant collaborations and have generated billions of dollars’ worth of additional exports to the economy and put Victoria’s world-class companies on a global stage. In March 2018, Gönül made Smart Company’s Honour Roll for the Top 100 Australian female business leaders and in August 2018, was awarded in the Top 50 Victorian Women in the Public Service.

Gönül has a passion for international engagement and supporting platforms and initiatives that empower young leaders and women to actively engage in areas of trade and culture.

Jeanette Cheah is an award-winning tech and business leader based in Melbourne, and raised across the US, Japan and Australia. As CEO & founder of HEX, she’s dedicated to transforming young people into the innovators the world needs tomorrow.

Jeanette Cheah is an award-winning tech and business leader based in Melbourne, and raised across the US, Japan and Australia. As CEO & founder of HEX, she’s dedicated to transforming young people into the innovators the world needs tomorrow.

With programs that are immersive, seriously fun, and academically aligned, HEX prepares students for the fast-changing global workforce with the skills they need – and the mindsets employers want.

Jeanette leads tech diversity programs at Monash University, contributes as EIR, mentor, and judge for accelerators like TechStars, Catalysr and RMIT LaunchHUB, and co-created the Gingerbread Demolition fundraiser for Save the Children Australia.

As keynote, MC, guest lecturer or podcaster, Jeanette has picked up the mic for the G20 YEA [Argentina], SXSW for G'Day USA [Austin], Women's Economic Forum [London], Google for Startups [San Francisco], General Assembly [Melbourne], ABC radio, Future Work Summit, SingularityU Australia – and many more.

Previously, Jeanette spent 14 years building innovation solutions, marketing strategies and digital products for some of Australia’s corporate giants including ANZ, AXA, AMP and Origin Energy.

Eloise Dolan pw

Eloise Dolan, Program Manager & Generation Asia Lead, Asia Society Australia (Moderator)

Eloise Dolan is Program Manager at Asia Society Australia, driving the design and delivery of the organisation’s Victoria-based programming. She also leads Asia Society’s Generation Asia pillar of work, spotlighting younger voices on and from Asia.

Eloise was previously the Project Coordinator for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Australia-Indonesia Youth Exchange Program and has served as a board director and qualified trainer for AFS Intercultural Programs. In 2021 she was named a young woman to watch by Young Australians in International Affairs.
