Australia's place in the Asia-Europe relationship
SYDNEY, June 25, 2009 – King Juan Carlos I of Spain addressed business leaders at a private dinner hosted by Asia Society AustralAsia Centre and Asialink at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney. In his address, he highlighted Europe’s increasing interest in Asia and its implications for the Australian business community.
The king’s address stressed the valuable and outstanding similarities between Australia and Spain, particularly their similar pursuit in an increasingly knowledge-based economy supported by a high quality workforce, competitive markets, and vibrant innovative activities. He also expressed interest in strengthening relations between Spain and the Asia Pacific region, especially to facilitate business innovation and investment in training and education, which are believed to be key elements driving future economic growth.
