Maia Shibutani
Maia Shibutani is a two-time Olympic Bronze Medalist, three-time World Medalist, Four Continents Champion, and two-time US National Champion. Together, she and her brother were the first ice dance team of Asian descent to win medals at the Olympics. In PyeongChang, they also became the first sibling ice dance team to win two Olympic medals.
Shibutani co-authored Kudo Kids: The Mystery of the Masked Medalist and Kudo Kids: The Mystery in Manhattan in 2020 and 2021. Her first picture book “Amazing: Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders Who Inspire Us All” is being released Spring 2023.
As a Sports Envoy for the U.S. State Department, Maia has traveled throughout Asia to connect with young people at goodwill events. She is also an Athlete Ambassador for the global organization, Right To Play.
With her brother, she is an AAU Sullivan Award Finalist, 5x Team USA Team of Month winner, recipient of the Asia Society Game Changer award, and Gold House A100 list honoree.
