Asia Society Board of Trustees Welcomes Three New Members at Fall Meeting
NEW YORK; Oct 27, 2022 — The Asia Society Board of Trustees today announced the election of Sangita Jindal, Kuo Chuan Kung, and Rabbi Angela Buchdahl as new Trustees.
"We are delighted to welcome to Asia Society’s Global Board of Trustees three new Trustees with diverse and varied backgrounds and experience,” said Asia Society President and CEO Kevin Rudd. “Each have made unique contributions to their fields—from the arts and cultural heritage preservation, to finance, to social and spiritual development—these new Trustees will bring important new perspectives to our Global Board.”

Sangita Jindal is President, Art India and Chairperson of the JSW Foundation that is responsible for social development projects of the JSW Group of Companies. In the twenty years that she has been spearheading, the Foundation has enlarged its scope of activities in the areas of education, health, livelihood creation, local sports development and conservation of arts and cultural heritage.
She established the Jindal Arts Centre in 1992 and started Art India, an art magazine in 1994. She was among the team that conceptualized the Kala Ghoda festival and for these efforts she was awarded the Eisenhower Fellowship in 2004. She has created, the Hampi Foundation that has undertaken conservation work at three temples in Hampi and the Friends of the JJ that has improved the Sir JJ School of Art.
She is a member of the Boards of Asia Society India and National Culture Fund, Trustee of the World Monument Fund, Advisor to TEDxGateway and a member of the IMC Ladies’ Wing Art, Culture and Film Committee.

Kuo Chuan Kung is Founder and Managing Partner of Nexus Point. He has over 25 years of private equity and consulting experience primarily in Greater China, as well as Southeast Asia, Japan, Australia, and the US.
Prior to Nexus Point, Mr. Kung co-founded MBK Partners and was Partner and Head of Greater China from 2005-2016. Prior to MBK Partners, he was a Managing Director at Carlyle Asia Partners. He started his career with McKinsey & Co.
Mr. Kung received an MBA from Harvard University, and a BA from Dartmouth College.

Rabbi Angela Buchdahl serves as the Senior Rabbi of Central Synagogue in New York City and is the first woman to lead Central’s Reform congregation in its 180-year history. She first joined Central Synagogue as Senior Cantor in 2006. In 2014, she was chosen by the congregation to be Senior Rabbi.
Rabbi Buchdahl was invested as a cantor in 1999 and ordained as a rabbi in 2001 by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York where she was a Wexner Graduate Fellow. She earned a BA in religious studies from Yale University in 1994. Born in Korea to a Jewish American father and a Korean Buddhist mother, Rabbi Buchdahl is the first Asian American to be ordained as a cantor or rabbi in North America. Prior to her service at Central Synagogue, Rabbi Buchdahl served as Associate Rabbi/Cantor at Westchester Reform Temple in Scarsdale, New York.
Rabbi Buchdahl serves on the boards of Avodah’s Jewish Service Corps, AJC, the New York Board of Rabbis, and UJA-Federation of New York. Rabbi Buchdahl and her husband Jacob Buchdahl have three children.
